  2. Here is a guide for everybody who wants the play Policenauts on Anex86 or T98-next emulator
  3. What do you need:
  4. The Game
  5. - Get it from http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96 or buy it.
  6. Emulator
  7. You have the choice between Anex86 and T98-Next. There a lot of pro and cons for either of them but I recommend Anex86 because it gives a playable emulation of Policenauts and the emulator itself in English.
  8. Anex86:
  9. - Get latest version (2.78) from http://homepage2.nifty.com/ans/ax/axdown.htm
  10. - Also download the CD-plugins anecdxnt.zip (for WinNT/2000/XP) or anecdx9x.zip (for Win9x)
  11. - Also download the kanji font from http://www.jcec.co.uk/pc98_util.html
  12. T98-Next:
  13. - Get latest version (13.1) from http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Bay/2754/download.html
  14. - Get also the key and sound update on the same page
  15. - Get CD-plugin from http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopolis/9809/scsi4cd.zip
  16. - Get the PC9821 BIOS and FONT roms from http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary%27s/Emulation/BIOS_Roms/BIOS_roms_summary.htm
  17. Software
  18. - Virtual CD-drive software like Alcohol120%, DaemonTools or Nero.
  19. Optional
  20. If you want to edit files inside diskimages then you need DiskExplorer 1.65 to do it.
  21. DiskExplorer:

  23. Installing:
  24. The Game (download)
  25. - Extract the rars to a place on your harddisk. You should now have several floppydisk images and 1 harddisk image and a directory with the CD image.
  26. - Mount the CD image with your Virtual CD software.

  28. Anex86 emulator
  29. - Extract 'anex86e1.zip' and the CD-plugin zip to a directory on your harddisk.
  30. - Extract 'font.zip' to same directory where Anex86 was extracted.
  31. - Start up Anex86 and click 'Config' in the main window.
  32. - Go to tab 'System' and select 'Ext-RAM' and fill in '8192'. This configures extra memory.
  33. - Go to tab 'Sound' and select type '-86' and select 'real' and enable all fm channels.
  34. - Go to tab 'Wave' and select 44KHz for the 'Rate' and enter '64' for the 'Buffer'
  35. - Go to tab 'CDX' and select the (virtual) CD drive which contains the Policenauts CD.
  36. - Go to tab 'Video' ensure that option 'GDC clock 5 MHz' is out.
  37. - Go to tab 'Font' and press '...' to choose the Anex86.bmp font file.
  38. - Select floppy image 'User (Anex).fdi' as FDD1 in main window.
  39. - Select harddisk image 'Policenauts.hdi' as HDD1 in main window.
  40. - Click 'Start' in main window to start the emulator.
  41. ------------------
  42. - Extract next_rb131.lzh to a directory on your harddisk.
  43. - Extract NEC_PC9821_BIOS.zip to ROM directory of T98-Next.
  44. - Extract NEC_PC9821_FONT.zip to ROM directory of T98-Next.
  45. - Extract SCSI4CDN.NHW (Windows 2000/XP) or SCSI4CD.NHW (Windows 9x) from SCSI4CD.ZIP to the DEVICE directory of T98-Next.
  46. - Start up T98-Next and click on the upper second tab from te left in the main window.
  47. - Select the third upper tab from the left in the main window.
  48. - Click on the right button at the bottom and select the CD drive which contains the Policenauts CD.
  49. - Click on the middle button to activate the CD plugin (some sign appears in front of the plugin line).
  50. - Go back to the tab on the left and select the tab 'DISK'
  51. - Select floppy image 'User (T-98 Next).fdi' as FD DRIVE 1 (click on the field left to the 'Eject' button to open the 'Open' window).
  52. - Select harrdisk image 'Polcienauts.hdi' as HD DRIVE 1.
  53. - Click most left upper button to start the emulator.
